I have long been involved in both the martial and meditative arts. More and more, I feel that meditation is not something to be limited to sitting on a cushion: it is a bodymind practice for the whole of life, intended to be drawn upon amidst activity as well as tranquility. The martial arts have amazing potential regarding our relational lives, and taking wisdom "off the mat".  Thus, they are an ideal medium for a more dynamic approach to meditation. This question from Richard Strozzi- Heckler resonates strongly with me:   "Can the practice of a discipline such as bodywork or a martial art lead to psychological and spiritual growth?" So this blog will aim to illuminate this question and other such questions within the realms of movement, martial arts, meditation and meaning.  I am inspired by the Zen tradition,particularly the writings of Hakuin and Hongzhi, and the work of Rafe Kelley, Rory Miller, Michael Stone, Mark Walsh, Tom Weksler, Fighting Monke...
